Sending Mail From Your Business Address Using Gmail

We recommend using Gmail for 2 reasons really. Firstly you get over 7 GB of free online storage for each user account which is fantastic. You never have to delete emails and can just ‘archive them’. Then secondly, the word search function means it’s really easy to find specific emails you’ve archived.

Oh and of course, there’s free use of Google Docs software and so on.

It’s also really easy to use Gmail as the send/receive software for your business email address. Firstly you need to make sure your business email is ‘forwarding’ to your Gmail address. You can do that in the control panel of your domain register account, or if you’re a customer of ours we do it for you.

Then you just need to get your Gmail sending as your business address.

Step 1 is to click on your Mail Settings button top right of your Gmail screen:

Then make sure you click the “Accounts and Import” tab, then “Add another email address you own”:

A popup will appear where you need to type in your business email address. You don’t need to use the alias the way we do it, so it’s good to uncheck that box:

You now need to confirm you want to send email using Gmail itself:

And now get Google to send a verification code to your business email address to prove you own it:

If you go to your inbox, you then open the email from Google and copy the verification code:

And then paste this into the popup:

You can now send mail from your business address by clicking the drop down at the top of the page when you write a new email:

If you want to always have your emails go from your business address (or if you’re likely to forget to use the dropdown), you can go back to your Email Settings > Accounts and Import tab, and click Make Default for your business address:

Google’s Adwords Classroom

The more I look into Google’s online training resources for their services, the more impressed I get. Ok, so it takes time to learn this stuff – but the way they present it and keep it up to do is excellent.

Here’s how they teach you to grow your business through their bit of the internet….
